One event that I never miss is the annual Greek Food Festival in Oakmont, PA. This is a wonderful event. It takes place every year the last week of June. The festival is held at the Greek Orthodox church in Oakmont, PA, on Washington Ave. The festival runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. You can find such wonderful culinary delights as Gyros, Lamb Shank, Stifado (beef stew in tomato sauce), Honey Balls, Grape Leaves, and much, much more. Prices are very reasonable. You can also wash it down with a cold beer or some Ouzo. They really do put on a nice spread of traditional Greek food at this annual festival. Be sure to mark your calendar. This year’s festival runs from June 27th-29th, 2014.
I’m really disappointed for this year’s festival because I have to travel out-of-town for work this week. I won’t get home until Sunday. But don’t worry, I plan to head down to the festival on Sunday and eat three days worth of food in one day! Seriously, I know I won’t be able to eat everything, but that’s why they invented carry out boxes. Be sure to stop down at the festival for some authentic Greek food this weekend. Buon appetito!
